On October 13, 2018, The People for Puerto Rico—along with members of PA Statewide Indivisible, the Latino Caucus of the PA State Democratic Party, Make the Road PA, the NAACP PA State Conference, and other local grassroots organizations—unfurled Philadelphia Councilwoman María Quiñones-Sánchez’s 60 x 40-foot Puerto Rican flag, marched it up the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and laid it on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum.

They marched in peace to commemorate those who died, to remind the world that Puerto Rico is still suffering, and to call on the U.S. government to increase aid and repeal the Jones Act. Activists and legislators from across Pennsylvania also stressed the importance of voting in the 2018 midterm elections.
